County Badminton Report

Northamptonshire are very pleased to see the back of Norfolk in this season's Junior Shires League. The county Under 13s team beat them 13-7 earlier in the season and this was followed by a 20-0 whitewash from the Under 17s and then another 20-0 defeat at the hands of the Under 15s last weekend.

In the latest match Norfolk won 18 of the 20 games in two straight sets and playing for them were Tom Hinks, Josh Kent, Nico Schilling, Ben Tozer, Emma Piper, Ellen Bugg, Devon Minnis and Emma Venier. The upcoming matches against Bucks are again likely to be decisive as to which county reaches the play-offs at the season's end.

* Not to be outdone by the juniors, the Over 60s notched up a 10-2 victory in a friendly match against Suffolk. Representing Norfolk were: Ann Hutchin, Gillian Holman, Lois Ash, Pam Mace, Alan Palmer, Bob Collinson, Copper Ramjeet and Gerald Cooke.

* The two senior county teams swing into action again this weekend in the Victor Sports Inter Counties Championship with home matches against Leicestershire to be played at Framingham Earl and the following weekend sees two further home matches against Staffs and Suffolk at Taverham. The teams are very keen to maintain their current unbeaten run of form.
